Michaela Resch studied Journalism and Communications (Bakk.phil.) at the University of Vienna as well as Social and Cultural Anthropology and Filmstudies at Freie Universität Berlin. Since 2010 she has been working as a broadcast director, editor and cinematographer for various projects and companies in Austria and Germany. Her first film „RE:AW:RE:FW“ (Germany, 2016 in collaboration with Anna Caroline Arndt) discusses everyday racism and the feeling of powerlessness. The film won the special award of the Foundation of the Sorbian People (Stiftung für das sorbische Volk) at the 26th Filmfestival Cottbus and travelled through European film festivals for the following two years. In 2018 she graduated from the M.A. program Visual and Media Anthropology at Freie Universität Berlin with the multisided ethnographic film „HERZ STICHT“ (Austria/Germany, 2018). Currently she is working freelance in Berlin and beyond as a creative video producer and editor, whilst developing her next documentary; focusing on social and political issues and the complexity of human beings.
