Studied photography, graphic design and art history. Received her B.A. in graphic design with emphasis on art in 2004 from San Diego State University. Lidia has worked as a photographer, graphic designer and video producer. In 2007, she co-founded dmovies.net, an online platform to research, document, and present contemporary art practices. The films, based on over 100 interviews with artists and curators, are shown at museums, relevant websites, at video screenings, art lectures and university courses.
Her focus is on the exhibition as a medium of diverse forms and producers, where convergence of practices drawn from social, cultural and political fields create relations to each other and form a new meaning, new context.
Other areas of interest are in how people adjust to changing societies and technologies; the effects of globalization and the increased access to information via new media; how images traveling within the flow of global media change meanings based on local cultural contexts; what are the dynamics that shape the processes of communication of ideas, values and norms in a trans-cultural and historical media context.
Lidia grew up in Sofia, Bulgaria. From 1990 to 2009 lived in San Diego, California. Since August 2009, Lidia lives in Berlin, Germany and is currently a M.A. Candidate in Visual and Media Anthropology at the Freie Univerität, Berlin.
