til Freie

born 1987 in Oslo, Norway.

Vidar is educated in social sciences with a bachelor’s degree in Development Studies from the University of Bergen. His specialization in anthropology is obtained at various universities spanning from Norway all the way to Peru, where he did fieldwork in the western parts of the Peruvian Amazon. Throughout his studies, Vidar has nurtured his interest in combining visual media and social sciences by continuously engaging in projects related to production and exposure of documents exploring this domain. Initially he established this interest as a video journalist working for the local student television in Bergen, and he has gone on to take part in different projects since then. Most notably as a co-producer and cameraman in a Danish-Norwegian collaboration documenting the preparations for the EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine, which resulted in a mini-series aired on Danish television prior to the championship.

Based in Oslo, Vidar divides his time between studying and working at a sheltered institution for persons with acquired brain damages, as well as teaching Norwegian to Spanish-speaking immigrants. The theme of his future projects will be to challenge established perspectives, as well as direct attention to marginalized others.
