Call for papers for a Visual Anthropology panel at the IUAES 2013 Congress
(5-10 August, Manchester UK): Anthropological Visions. Atlases of
Difference, Multimedia Arcades and Non-linear Arguments” (panel reference
Cristina Grasseni (Bergamo University) and Florian Walter (Freie
Universität Berlin) invite submissions to the Visual Anthropology track
panel they are organising for the 2013 IUAES Congress.
The panel focuses on collective representation and countervisuality
featuring prominently in current practices of visual research. The
organisers’ intention is to create a forum for visual anthropologists and
(media-) artists and to discuss the idea of the ethnographer as broker,
mapper or architect rather than "auteur", using multi-sensory,
multi-linear and multi-voice formats to enhance transcultural
