We managed to win Arnd Schneider as a keynote lecturer for our InHouseClass. The lecturer will take place in Silberlaube, K25/11
on Thursday 07/04/2011 at 13.15-17.00.
Keynote on: "Expanded visions: what anthropology can learn from experimental film"
Arnd Schneider and Christopher Wright are the editors of the book "Between Art and Anthropology - Contemporary Practice" (Schneider 2010). After the keynote there will be a discussion on experimental film / art and anthropology. All students and lecturers/staff are invited.
Arnd Schneider is Profesor of Social Anthropology at the Institute of Social Anthropology, University of Oslo. Arnd Schneider writes on contemporray art and anthropology, migration, and ethnographic film. His main publications include "Futures Lost: Identity and Nostalgia among Italian Immigrants in Argentina" (Peter Lang 2000), "Mafia for Beginners" (Ikon Books 1994), "Approbriation as Practice: Art and Identity in Argentina" (Palgrave 2006) and, with Carmen Bernand and Mónica Quijada, "Homogenidady Nación" (CSIC Madrid 2004). He was co-organizer of the conference "Fieldworks: Dialogues between Art and Anthropology" (Tate Modern 2003) and edited, with Christopher Wright, "Contemporary Art and Anthropology" (Berg 2006).
