Berlin's Philippine Film Festival The First Reel: Philippine Film Festival - Berlin returns this year from 3-5 and 8-12 November at Kino Moviemento in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
The First Reel: Philippine Film Festival - Berlin is created and organised by the Philippine Studies Series Berlin, a platform founded by anthropologist Rosa Cordillera Castillo for lectures, discussions, and art and film events on the Philippines, Filipina/o/x, and the diaspora. The First Reel festival founder and organizer is G8 MA Visual and Media Anthropology alumni Lola Abrera and filmmaker Trinka Lat is curator.
The festival endeavors to provide an international platform for both established and independent Filipino filmmakers as well as facilitate discussions on issues affecting Filipinos at home and abroad.
The First Reel: Philippine Film Festival in Berlin is presented by the Philippine Studies Series Berlin in cooperation with Mauerpark Institute e.V., supported by Umverteilen Stiftung and Philippinenburo e.V., and assisted by the Philippine Embassy in Germany.
