Peter I. Crawford (born Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK, 1955) holds a degree in social anthropology from Aarhus University (1985). He has been an active member of the board of the Nordic Anthropological Film Association (NAFA) since the late 1970s. He has written extensively on visual anthropology and ethnographic film-making and has wide experience in teaching the subject both theoretically and practically. He was Professor II at the Visual Anthropology Programme at the University of Tromsø, Norway from 2001 to 2013 and now part of the Camera as Cultural Critique Research Programme and the Eye and Mind MA programme at Aarhus University. He has been involved in the long-term Reef Islands Ethnographic Film Project (Solomon Islands) since 1994 and is currently producing a number of films based on material recorded over the years, last fieldwork conducted end of 2010. Otherwise Peter I. Crawford mainly works as a publisher/editor for Intervention Press (www.intervention.dk) and as a socio-economic consultant on development issues.
