Jordana Maurer was born in Geneva in 1981 of French and Turkish nationality. She subsequently grew up in Istanbul, a chaotic and vibrant city that left its mark on her artistic sensibility. She attended university first at the Sorbonne in Paris, then in New York University's renowned Tisch school of the Arts, from which she graduated with a BFA in Film and Television production. Back in Europe, Jordana moved to Berlin and started a multifaceted career. As a line producer & coordinator she worked on many features and documentary films. As a fixer she assisted international film teams shooting in the four corners of Turkey. She also worked in Film festivals such as the Berlinale and the Torino FF, and co-founded the collective AnimatedZeug which creates outstanding animated content (www.animatedzeug.com). Now, with the Masters in Visual and Media Anthropology, Jordana wishes to take her professional knowledge, engage it with critical thinking and research in order to create original work as an author. Since 2015 she is based in northern Italy.
