Maria Kapaki completed her BA in Sociology at University of Crete, Greece. She participated in the Erasmus Programme in Rome in the department of Mass Media, University “ La Sapienza” for a year and she completed her European Voluntary Service in Siena working with children with special needs. She worked in several NGO´s in the field of youth mobility and intercultural youth exchanges inside Europe. During summer 2009 she participated in the summer school of Applied Anthropology in Malta, organised by University of Leuven, Belgium focusing in legacy of European culture and Mediterranean traditions.
She currently studies Visual and Media Anthropology in Freie University of Berlin, having submitted essays on “ Indigenous media projects: Can indigenous film projects be a potential tool for social change“ and „Nollywood: Nigerian movies, popular culture and religion„.
